Sharon Overfelt (Intern) Bio

Sharon Overfelt, MA, LPC Intern #78713

Supervised by Katrena Hart, LPC-S #15619

Sharon Overfelt is a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern (LPC Intern), supervised by Katrena Hart (LPC-S).   She holds Master’s degree from Amberton University.  Her education also includes a 2-year training in a Somatic approach called Hakomi that strongly integrates body-mind connection and mindfulness. It is gentle and promotes self-study. With mindfulness we can explore and uncover deep rooted core beliefs that are shaping everyday behavior.

Body-Mind connection is at the core of her therapeutic interventions. Her training and passion lie in gentle therapy that embodies the following principles:

          • MINDFULNESS is a powerful tool for helping persons study their experience

          • NON-VIOLENCE AND COMPASSION promotes safe, non-forceful, cooperative exploration

          • MIND-BODY INTEGRATIONaffirms that mind and body jointly manifest and reflect the beliefs we hold

          • CURIOSITYfollowing the body’s inner wisdom that knows what’s needed to heal; self-directing and self-correcting

Sharon’s life experiences have led her to discover her life’s purpose in counseling. She is a mother to two wonderful girls as well as a step-mom in a big blended family. Her husband, Greg, is a source of love and support to her and their entire family. Together, they manage to balance the needs of all family members and to create a loving and functional nest to their blended family. Sharon also has extensive experience navigating the corporate world from her many years as project manager. Her well rounded background and passion to connect with others on a deep level have led her to become a counselor in mid-life.

Sharon is originally from Israel and speaks Spanish and Hebrew as well as English fluently. She has a diverse cultural background being brought up in a Jewish family with parents who immigrated from Argentina. She also served in the Israeli army for 2 years. The diversity makes her an open minded, accepting individual.

Sharon believes that each person deserves a safe space to be all that their body and soul need without judgement. A loving presence is at the core of her therapeutic approach.

She is passionate about helping individuals with:
